Resistivity Tester for Anti-Static Surfaces
The model S-385 surface resistance tester is used to check the resistivity of static dissipative and conductive surfaces, such as
anti-static workstation mats.
How to check the surface resistance:
Checking the resistivity of anti-static mats is a simple process. Typically, the top side of the anti-static mat is dissipative
and the bottom is conductive. The S-385 surface resistance meter can test the resistivity of both sides of the mat. The test measurement probes are built into the back panel
of the surface resistance meter.
- Make sure the anti-static mat is wiped clean and dry. Lay the back of the resistance meter on the top surface of the anti-static mat.
- Press the red "Test" button.
- An LED on the measurement bar graph should illuminate within the "static dissipative" range indicating a good test result for the top mat surface.
- Now flip the mat over and repeat steps 1 through 3 on the bottom surface of the anti-static mat. An LED on the measurement bar graph should illuminate
within the "conductive" range, indicating a good test result for the bottom side of the mat.
- The included ground cord lead can also be used to test resistivity from the surface of the mat to the earth ground in the same manor as outlined above.
- If any test produces a result in the "Insulative" range, there's a problem with either the anti-static mat or
it's path to ground (the mat ground cord). Take corrective action.
